I am Lynn Zebeda, Future Leader

A long, long time ago, in the very first Future Leaders program in The Gambia, I had dinner with Habibatou. The two of us in the light of a candle, with the sound of crickets all around us. What we ate I can't remember, yet our conversation it is still clear in my mind. It went from fathers and boyfriends, to men and women, to values and dreams. However different our backgrounds - her family is traditional Islamic, mine quote unorthodox - our ambitions were the same. We both wanted to make a difference and both wanted to give it our best shot. 

 

What happened that night between the two of us, is what I want to do at large. Facilitate genuine international connections, make way for big collective dreaming and then make those come true. That's what I have done at Better Future, where I had the opportunity to start working a year-and-a-half after the program. And since recently as co-founder of Dr. Monk - our own big dream. The surprising bonds that were forged in the Gambia I still carry along on this journey - the candle burns bright.
